I-Café Pilipinas, the national advocacy body of the internet café industry in the Philippines, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cyber Café Association of India (CCAOI). The agreement establishes the collaborative partnership between I-Café Pilipinas and CCAOI in matters of mutual interest like Internet penetration, security and growth of internet cafes in the both countries and the rest of the world. Both parties also agreed to work together towards the recognition of the internet cafés worldwide as a separate entity in the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN).
The Cyber Café Association of India (CCAOI) is a non profit organization set up with the objective of promoting Internet to the common masses across India, particularly through the 180,000 Cybercafés, 50,000 CSC’s and 11,000 eCommerce service outlets. CCAOI is responsible for bringing to the forefront and voicing the woes of the entrepreneurs, at the required forums on their behalf and thereby, protecting their interest and helping them establish and sustain a world class infrastructure, which in turn would facilitate affordable internet services to the common people.
To achieve this, CCAOI interacts and works closely with the Government, the Regulators, Police, Policy Makers and major Industry Chambers. Additionally, CCAOI provides a common ground to the Solution Providers (Hardware/Software) and suppliers to gain easy access to their potential clients and promote their products and services either during events or through personal meetings.

Mr. Ed Zafra, Chair of I-Café Pilipinas and Ms. Amrita Choudhury, Director OF CCAOI signed the MOU last May 3, 2010. “This is truly a historical event for I-Café Pilipinas and for the internet café industry in the Philippines in particular” says Mr. Zafra. “This is just the start of the international linkages that we are hoping to develop with other internet café associations in other countries to promote the growth and development of internet cafes worldwide.“
